Xarelto Lawsuits

Xarelto Lawsuit

Xarelto is an anticoagulant drug first manufactured by Bayer and approved to hit the market by the FDA in 2011.  Xarelto has been a blockbuster drug for Bayer, becoming one of its top five pharmaceutical medications.  In 2013, Xarelto had sales of $1.3 billion.  Bayer is expecting that the sales could reach around $3.5-4 billion a year at some point.  However, the Xarelto sales have increased XARELTO bleeding injuries.  Unfortunately, Xarelto has led to unfortunate Xarelto side effects that have led to XARELTO lawsuits handled by the XARELTO lawsuit attorneys at NGK Law.

The primary basis for XARELTO lawsuits handled by the XARELTO lawsuit attorneys at NGK Law has been the highlighted safety concerns regarding XARELTO injuries.  In particular, the FDA has noted that the safety of anticoagulant drugs, such as Xarelto and Pradaxa, remains a major concern given the high risk of bleeding and increasing use of anticoagulants such as Xarelto and Pradaxa replace the generic Coumadin.  The biggest concern, and the grounds for XARELTO lawsuits is that the manufacturers of Xarelto have claimed that there is not a need for monitoring of blood levels while taking Xarelto.  Unfortunately, this has resulted in serious Xarelto bleeding injuries and XARELTO deaths by patients taking Xarelto.  These Xarelto side effects were known by the manufacturers even before the drug was approved.  There have been concerns that for these new anticoagulants such as Pradaxa and Xarelto, marketing Xarelto use for ease of use, rather than providing tools to reduce bleeding risks, constitutes a substantial wrong turn for an important medical treatment.  In particular, it was recommended that the FDA reconsider its decision to prohibit a low dose of drugs such as Pradaxa and Xarelto.

ngklawXARELTO lawsuits are similar to Pradaxa lawsuits, in that the focus of the Xarelto lawsuit litigation handled by the XARELTO lawsuit lawyers at NGK Law is that the drug manufacturers have downplayed the risks of Xarelto bleeding deaths and XARELTO side effects.  Given the significant increase in Xarelto side effects and Xarelto adverse events, the manufacturers of Xarelto should have known of the dangerous Xarelto side effects.  It is expected that Xarelto lawsuits will be in the number of several thousand Xarelto lawsuits.  We expect that many of these will be XARELTO deaths caused by patients in St. Louis taking Xarelto and not knowing that they are suffering from bleeding events.

One of the primary problems with anticoagulants such as Xarelto and Pradaxa is that there is no known antidote once a bleeding event starts.  A drug such as Coumadin, which has been around for over fifty years, has a simple antidote in Vitamin K.  Unfortunately, Xarelto side effects are not easily fixed with an antidote.  This results in significant XARELTO bleeding side effects and Xarelto injuries that form the basis for Xarelto lawsuits handled by our XARELTO lawsuit attorneys.  As the manufacturer of Pradaxa paid $650,000,000.00 to settle the Pradaxa lawsuits, we believe that the manufacturer of Xarelto, Bayer, should work with the XARELTO lawsuit lawyers at NGK Law and the XARELTO attorneys to investigate and resolve Xarelto deaths caused by bleeding events that gave rise to Xarelto lawsuits.  Sadly, it is expected that these Xarelto lawsuits will be litigated over several years, and additional information about the dangers of Xarelto side effects will continue.
